7 Year Old Critic, Seth, Reviews Be Our Guest
Mom: How many times have you been to Be Our Guest?
Seth: Around 10 times. Or maybe 11 or 9.
Mom: Have you been there for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner?
Seth: Yes. I remember dinner a long time ago with Gabby, and I was sleeping in the stroller. But I woke up and had dinner.
Mom: What’s your favorite thing to eat at Be Our Guest?
Seth: Probably the cupcakes.
Mom: What kind of cupcake do you like?
Seth: The strawberry one! I like the strawberry on top. [Ezra, 5, chimes in and says that she likes the gray square cupcake with dots, she means the gray stuff.] But there is one thing that I don’t like about it. Can I say that?
Mom: Yes, of course. What didn’t you like?
Seth: The cupcake paper. It doesn’t come off.
Mom: That’s because you’re supposed to scoop it out of the paper, not take it off.
Seth: Oh. It’s taking you a long time to write that.
Mom: Ok, sorry. What other kind of food do you like there?
Seth: I like those little pickles [I have no idea what he’s talking about, but Ezra concurs that they were delicious] and the fish [kids salmon] and fries and ketchup.
Seth: And my most favorite part of Be Our Guest is when the character comes out. He walks out and the music plays [demostrates, pretending to be the Beast.]
Mom: You weren’t scared of the Beast?
Seth: No, not at all. Well, I was a little nervous. When I went up to him, I was nervous. Like I always am with scary characters. Well, not scary. But the first time I was a little scared.
Mom: How old were you when you first saw him?
Seth: Umm. I don’t know. Probably around four or five. It was like a loooong time ago. [He was four.]
Mom: Do you like all the rooms in Be Our Guest?
Seth: Yes, absolutely, yes! I like all the rooms. I like that there’s an angel one and a scary one [The West Wing] and the one where they’re dancing.
Mom: Which one is your favorite?
Seth: Probably the scary one. It has the best theme. [Ezra adds that she likes the dancing one, and also the scary one, but it’s pretty scary.]
Mom: Anything else you want to share about Be Our Guest?
Seth: Yeah, about when we were dressed up to meet The Beast? Tell them, we were a little Beast and a little Belle with the yellow dress.
Seth: OH! Tell them about the candles that light up, from the movie!
Seth: Yes! While we were waiting the little kids were coloring and I was using the fake candles to play and then someone at another table broke something and I was using the candles to help the Cast Members see to clean up. And they were kinda like “thank you” but they were also kinda like “be careful” but mostly they were like, “thank you very much.” But that wasn’t even Lumiere. That was the little candles from the table.
Mom: So, Seth, would you recommend Be Our Guest to other kids?
Seth: What does recommend mean?
Mom: Like if another kid wanted to know if he should go to Be Our Guest or not, what would you tell him?
Seth: Absolutely, yes! But the one that they should even more go to [who is teaching this kid to talk?!] is that one that costs a lot of money? You know the other castle? They should go to that one. But they should go to Be Our Guest too. Absolutely, they should! Tell them that it’s two absolutely yeses for Be Our Guest. Can you tell them that?
Mom: Yep, I’ll tell them.
