I Need Groceries
If you’re heading to Disney chances are that you might want some food that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg and may be a tad bit more healthy than all burgers all the time. But you may not have a car or you may not want to waste your precious vacation time shopping for groceries.
So, you may find yourself googling “grocery delivery Orlando.” And you’ll find a few traditional options. Garden Grocer, Grocery Express… but they all have their ups and downs. High minimum order amounts, preorder times, delivery fees.
You don’t have to subject yourself to those any longer!
Instacart is an app that you can order groceries from. You can put in the zip code and they’ll offer you several stores to shop from. Once you’ve chosen the store, you can go through and add items to your cart. You can pick anything that the store sells.
Once you’re ready to check out, you can choose your delivery time. Usually they’ll offer a 2 hour window, sometimes (usually in the evenings) it’ll take longer.
For Disney hotels, the groceries can be delivered to Bell Services. Cold items will be kept cold. We call to have Bell Services bring them up to our room.
Delivery is $9.99 for under $35. It’s $5.99 for over $35. There is a minimum order amount of $10, but this doesn’t apply to your first order.
Free Delivery and $10 off!?!?
The good news is that you get free delivery and $10 off on your first delivery with this link! http://bit.ly/SMPDInstaCart Do not sign up until you’re ready to order because the free delivery and $10 off expires in only a week. I’d hate for you to miss out!
The zip code for Disney resorts is: 32830
Here’s the process in screenshots:
First, you put in the zip code (32830), then you are ready to choose a store. Notice that different stores have different delivery times open. Also, Whole Foods and ABC Fine Wine are at the everyday store prices. I’ve ordered from Publix too and I didn’t find the prices to be very much higher. I haven’t ordered from Costco.
After you choose your store, you’re ready to shop. Instacart will helpfully suggest things that go together. I like to have a list ready or I always miss something.
Once you have everything you’d like, hit the cart in the corner and it’ll take you to review your cart. Now I just threw some yogurt in there so the delivery fee is $9.99 because it’s under $35. It’ll be $5.99 with over $35 or free with our link above.
When you’re ready, tap the orange bar and it’ll take you to a screen to put in the address. I always just google the resort address and copy and paste it into Instacart.
Then put your payment info in. If it’s already in there from a previous order you can edit it by clicking “edit” next to the payment option.
It took me a few orders to realize that the service fee is optional. I believe this is like a tip for the people behind the scenes. You can remove it if you’d like. I do. Just click edit below:
If you do not hit Save it’ll change it back, so double check.
Then you’re ready to really check out!
Then click pay and you’re all set!
You will get a notification when your shopper is shopping. If the store is out of something, they will send you options (cancel product, choose similar.) Then you’ll get a notification when you’re shopper is on the way to you and then another when the order is dropped off at Bell Services.
You’ll be given an opportunity to rate and tip your delivery person.
That’s it! Super easy! Please let me know if you have any questions. LJ@SmartMomsPlanDisney.com
