Ok, so really quick because I need to get these monkeys to bed if I’m going to get up in time for Rope Drop (is that still what it’s called??) and to see the castle show.
We had an excellent day at Epcot today and I hope to do a trip report soon, but for now I just want to point out two updates that I noticed since my last trip to Epcot (which was on December 14, 2016 so not even a month ago.)
I’m not a big “illusion of security” person, but this makes sense. It’s faster. I’m not totally sure it’s safer, but it’s faster so let’s keep it up. New metal detectors are set up between the bag check lines.
There was a guard giving instruction and he told us to split out party and have one of us take all the kids and go through the no bag line while the other takes the stroller and all the bags through the far right line. We aren’t big on splitting up and I also love my husband too much to abandon him with a stroller and the 37 bags we take into the park, so we ignored the guard’s direction and just all headed to the bag check.
I took one bag and went through the main line while Mike went into the stroller line. I’m fairly sure that strollers/scooters/chairs are confined to one line. It is the line on the far right when entering. Everyone else shares three. We were through very quickly. They checked my back very briefly and then sent me through the metal detector. Mike pushed the stroller and then they checked him with a wand.
All in all it was much quicker than the more thorough bag check, so I’m a fan.
Second, a great development! Annual Passholder Only lines at the turnstiles! There was a pretty long line to scan, but only two families in front of us at the AP line and (surprise surprise) they knew how to scan their bands and were through before we even got up to them. I’m very happy about this. In the picture below, the guy in the white hat is staring people down and saying, “Annual Passholders?” before letting them in to the AP Only line. You can see that the regular line is fairly deep and (I’m sure) full of people who will not remember which finger they scanned the first time. I sound bitter, don’t I? I’m mostly kidding, but kinda not. 🙂
That’s all for now. Let me know if I can answer anything for you!
