A Great Idea from Grandma
This story starts at Christmastime when my mom bought my daughter a very pretty dress and tiara for Christmas. My Ezra is 100% girl and so she was thrilled with the gift. She wanted to wear it all over! Grandma suggested she ask her Daddy to take her on a date and Ezra grabbed on to the idea with a vengeance.
Then after the 100th time Ezra asked him about it, Mike said to me, “You gotta help me. I don’t know where to take her. She wants ‘somewhere with lights’.”
Disney has Lights
I was at a loss too, until we realized we could definitely make the date happen at Disney. It was still a week or so away, and Ezra asked about her date with Daddy every day. Every day this idea grew. She talked about her shoes and her makeup and her hair and her gloves. I’ve rarely seen her so excited.
I did Ezra’s makeup and I have to say, it was a little crazy how beautiful my daughter has become. Doing this for her wedding crossed my mind and I thought how fast it would be here. I zipped her dress and wondered if I’d be the one to zip her wedding dress. How I hope so.
Mike and I shared a few “oh my gosh”, arrow to the heart moments as she was getting ready. Our baby. Our only little girl just seems to be turning into a woman right in front of us.
I asked some of my Disney obsessed friends where he could take her that has lights and we came up with the idea of Boardwalk and Beaches and Cream. It was perfect. I took the boys to a table not too far away and let them have some alone time. Seth and I player waiter/waitress bringing them food.
Ezra wanted pizza, thankfully! Pizza was easy to do on the Boardwalk. And it was delicious. We got a whole signature pizza, two salads and drinks and a cookie for two Quick Service credits. I thought that was a pretty good deal!

Dinner and a Show
After they ate Mike and Ezra walked the Boardwalk stopping to see the magic show. Last month, Seth and I went on a Mother Son trip, and Seth was actually in that same magic show then. Kinda special that we both got to see it during a special trip.
Disney Comes Through Again
During all this getting ready, doing her makeup and hair, Seth was a trooper. He was a huge help to me with the baby. He holds him and rocks him and carries him around everywhere. Seth is going to make a heck of a dad. I am seven years older than my baby sister and Seth and Cyrus bring back a lot of good memories.
So Seth was stepping up and helping out, and I wasn’t really able to focus a lot on making this a great night for him. I figured he’d get pizza and maybe ice cream and that would be enough. But Disney came through for him.
Seth was holding the baby for me while I got everyone’s pizza and got everyone set up. Cyrus was crying because he wanted to nurse and Seth was doing a great job with him like he always does. A few minutes later, a Disney employee came over with a white box. In it was a chocolate covered Mickey brownie.
The Cast Member said that someone had contacted him (we later found out that it was the lady at the nearby kiosk) and said that there was a “really great big brother out here that needs a special moment.” It was especially good timing on Disney’s part.
Beaches and Cream
After dinner we walked over to Beach Club and talked about our good memories from when we stayed there in November of 2015. Asher was just a little baby! And there was no Cyrus yet. Disney holds so many memories for us.
Beaches and Cream is a great place to use a few snack credits. With the new QS Plan, we have a ton of extra credits. You can get a huge ice cream, or a float, malt or milkshake for a snack credit. You can also get one of those massive cookie ice cream sandwiches for a snack credit. Soooo good!
No Park, No Problem
We rarely take a day completely off from the parks (and to be fair, I technically went to MK this morning. But I just stayed for the welcome show and came right back.) This was a great no park day. We swam, we napped, we had a great dinner and dessert at Beach Club.
I highly recommend building some downtime into your plans…. and if you have enough time, schedule a Daddy Daughter Date. It was an exceptional use of time.
