Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party: From a Kid’s Perspective
So, Seth what do remember most about Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party?
Seth: The parade (and Daddy chimes in, “Oooh yeah. The parade.)
Mom: What do you remember about the parade?
Seth: The Headless Horseman and the people who had the shovels. (Daddy chimes in, “Yeah, the sparking shovels.” And Seth responds, “Hey, this isn’t Daddy Says. These are moms. They don’t care what you think.”)
Mom: Anything else about the parade?
Seth: The glowing skulls. I thought they were robots, but you said they weren’t. (I think he’s talking about these giant sugar skulls walking around.)
Mom: What else did you enjoy about the Not So Scary Halloween Party?
Seth: Getting candy. You would just look at the map and go get candy for free.
Mom: Did you get a lot of candy?
Seth: We didn’t go to all of them because we were so tired, but we did get a lot. Enough that I would say it was over a thousand. I think the average man would say that it was a lot. More than a few candy bags. (I looked back at my journal and I had written that we went down two candy trails and there were over ten available.)
Mom: Were there any shows or anything that you liked?
Seth: Yes, there was. I liked the parade best. I liked that one with Oogy Boogy too.
Mom: Did you see any cool characters?
Seth: I don’t think so. I know there were some there, but we didn’t get around to it.
Mom: What about the fireworks?
Seth: I can’t really remember the fireworks.
Mom: They were amazing.
Seth: I don’t remember.
Mom: You don’t remember? There was a lot of orange and green and they sang the Halloween song. Oogy Boogy sang.
Seth: I’ve seen too many fireworks.
Mom: So, would you like to go back to the Halloween Party?
Seth: Probably. Every day, yeah. Until I get bored of it. There’s some things that I missed that I’d like to do. Like the characters. I don’t know who was there, but I’d like to get a map and meet them. And hit the rest of the spots for candy.
Mom: The party cost about $75 for you. Would you be willing to pay for it out of your own money?
Seth: How much is it again?
Seth: I don’t think so. I feel like that’s a lot.
Mom: What if I paid for part of it?
Seth: How much would I have to pay?
Mom: How about $30?
Seth: So, I’d have to wash the dishes 30 times? Yeah, I’d do it. I think it’s worth that much.
Mom: Do you think the party was Not So Scary?
Seth: Maybe a little. I felt like the guys with the shovels might come over and hurt me.
Mom: Do you think other kids will be scared of it?
Seth: Maybe, maybe not. They just need to tell their kids that it’s not real. It wasn’t like, “Can-we-go-back-to-the- hotel-super-scary.”
Mom: Anything else to say about the party? Would you recommend it?
Seth: What does “recommend it” mean?
Mom: Would you tell other people to go there?
Seth: Well, I wouldn’t set up a table and tell people to go there. There was some good stuff and some ok stuff. They need to read what I said and decide for themselves.
Mom: What did you dress as at the party?
Seth: Mad Hatter. And my sister was Alice and Daddy had a shirt with the Caterpillar on it.
Mom: And what was mommy? And Asher?
Seth: Mom was… Asher was the White Rabbit. And Mom, you were the cat that has stripes on it.
Mom: You said we didn’t meet any characters. Are you sure? You don’t remember waiting a long time to meet anyone?
Seth: Oh yeah! The Seven Dwarfs!
Mom: Did you like the Seven Dwarfs?
Seth: Yeah! You normally don’t get to meet them. You usually only seen them on Steamboat Willie (He is talking about the boat at the end of Fantasmic.)
To give a little backstory, we were exhausted by the time we made it to the party. We had meant to relax all day, but then our plans changed because we got a really good deal on Beach Club (Like $700 for 5 nights!) So we were switching resorts and didn’t have a room. We went to Epcot and walked around ALL day and then went to the party. Do not do this.
