I’m LJ, and I’m the owner and founder of Smart Moms Plan Disney. Welcome!
Disney World isn’t just a destination to me- it’s a way of life! I was working in Corporate America when I first traveled to Disney. That first experience, if I’m being honest, left something to be desired. I didn’t take the time to plan much and we seemed to wander from waiting in line to waiting in line. I didn’t go back for several years.
BUT, I continued to be interested in Disney and I read about how people loved it. I decided to go back, but this time with a plan. An obsession was born. (Read the whole story here.)
I read books and planners, I read blog after blog, article after article, and I discovered the science of doing Disney. Volumes of research has been done on crowd patterns, and boy, was I surprised to find that I had followed the typical path that first trip to Disney. No wonder we waited so much on what was actually a low crowd level day. I want to help moms avoid the same fate!
Our next trip was nothing short of completely magical and I realized then that I wanted to be a bigger part of that amazing world!
God had Disney World play a big role in helping me realize how unhappy I was in my job. After our first few trips as a family, I noticed that all my memories of my kids were at Disney World. Why? Probably because I was working so much that I didn’t have much time with them. And I was tired and stressed when I did see them. Our Disney trips allowed me to see what it felt like to not be stretched thin. I could really SEE my kids at Disney. I decided to change my life.
We bought a farm 350 miles away and I started a property management company. Soon I was able to leave my job and work from home full time.
My husband was already a stay-at-home dad, so this meant we were free from a boss telling us when we could travel! God is so good to me.
In the last two years, I have spent over 120 days at Disney World, most of the time bringing my four children (7, 5, 2 and a baby) and husband along for the ride. I’ve taken not only my four kids, but also people of every age from newborn to school age to grandparents! I’ve stayed at almost every Disney resort, rode every ride, seen most every show, ate at so many of the restaurants.
Obviously, I’m passionate about Disney World, but I’m even more passionate about Moms. We are running the place. The backbone of society. We are the reason anything good happens in the world. And we do it all with a baby on our hip.
And we are often taken for granted, because we are women.
My dream is to find a way to help moms. Not just help them go to Disney, but help them reach their dreams. Help them find a way to stay home with their babies while earning an income. I will find a way.
So that’s me. Crazy, Jesus-following, Disney-loving, mom-empowering lady with four kids. So nice to meet you!
